Ofer Bar-Yosef, 1970 Ph.D., Hebrew University, where he taught from 1968 -1987 and later (1988-2013) at Harvard University, Department of Anthropology. He was the joint excavator of Lower though late Paleolithic and early Neolithic open-air sites and caves in Israel, Sinai (Egypt), Turkey, Czech Republic, Republic of Georgia, and People's Republic of China. His field work targeted early and late dispersals from Africa, Neanderthals and modern humans, and the transition from foraging to farming. Associate and full member of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (2001, 2010) and a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy (2005). Co-edited 19 volumes, authored or co-authored some 360 papers and book chapters.
